Beatrice (Bea) Cory Belt Garrelts (September 17, 1923 – August 15, 2022)

Born in Newark, Ohio, Bea was the daughter of Charles Belt and Leah (Orr) Belt.

Bea is survived by her son, Craig (Cindi); granddaughter Marlo Morehouse (Jessica Pierfelice); granddaughter, Amanda Garrelts Buckner (Randy); great granddaughter Evelyn Buckner; son-in-law Tom Morehouse (Pat Rhoton). Bea is also survived by many nieces and nephews located in Ohio, Kentucky, Florida, Texas, Arizona, California, Oregon, Illinois and Nebraska.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; her daughter, Donna Garrelts Morehouse; her sisters, Virginia Belt Frakes and Patricia Belt Sidell. Bea attended and graduated from Newark High School. She briefly attended Capital University before enlisting in the US Navy as a Wave in December of 1943. Bea was stationed in Washington DC during WWII and received an Honorable Discharge in March 1946. She married US Marine Corp Master Sargent Alfred Garrelts on July 5, 1946.  They had two children, Donna Garrelts Morehouse and Craig Garrelts. Bea returned to Capital University and completed her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1963.  She was employed by the Columbus Public Schools, where she served as a primary teacher of the second grade for 25 years.  A charter member of Reformation Lutheran Church, Bea was also an active volunteer with many organizations, including many years at Children's Hospital in Columbus. Bea was eligible for registration within the Daughters of the American Revolution, which might explain her fascination with the Queen and Royal Family.  As an avid Buckeye fan, she proudly wore the necklace every game day. Bea's gentle spirit and shared wisdom will be missed. The family invites you to visitation on Tuesday, August 30 at EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 4171 East Livingston Avenue, Columbus Ohio.  Calling hours are 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.  Church services will be held at Reformation Lutheran Church, 1355 South Hamilton Road, Columbus Ohio, on Wednesday, August 31 at 10:00 A.M.  Internment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens to immediately follow service.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Reformation Lutheran Church, 1355 South Hamilton Road, Columbus Ohio 43227.
