Beatrice "Bea" Millspaugh age 98, of Blacklick, Ohio, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 28, 2022, with family by her side and puppy Lily next to her. Bea was born August 14, 1923, in the Rockdale community of Owen County, Kentucky to the late Stanley Dempsey and Mary Mefford Dempsey.  She was a 1943 graduate of Bethany High School and was the class valedictorian.

She was preceded in death by brothers Edward (Pauletta) Dempsey, Porter (Winifred) Dempsey, Hugh David (Doris) Dempsey, sister Verna Mae (Gordon) Crupper, and baby sister Opal Dean Dempsey.

Bea was also preceded in death by former husband Bradford Fitzgerald; husband Robert Millspaugh, and daughter Candace Millspaugh. In each case, Bea was left with a child to care for which she did with love and dedication.

Bea is survived by son Scott Fitzgerald, grandson Robert (Rob) Millspaugh, and their wives Beth and Ashley respectively, all of whom were very special to her. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Doris Dempsey and Marilyn Millspaugh; cousins Lois Skirvin, Lola Dunaway, Mildred Young; and many nieces & nephews.

In later years, Bea took special joy in getting phone calls and surprise visits from family and friends. Even when there wasn't much to talk about, or someone called just to drop a hint they might like some of her No-Bake cookies, each call was special to her and lifted her spirits.  She also thought it was funny when her friends took good-natured pleasure in teasing her about her overly cautious driving. They swore Bea was the only person in history of Columbus, Ohio that drove for over 40 years and never made a left turn.

A friend said the first thing she thought of when she heard of Bea's passing was a line from the song "Believe" by Brooks & Dunn. " If there was ever anybody that deserved a ticket to the other side it'd be… our sweet friend Bea.  She greeted everyone with a warm smile, and constantly worried about the well-being of others before herself. She was a joy and inspiration to many."

As per Bea's request a family only service will be held. Burial will be at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Cemetery just outside of Mt. Vernon, Indiana.
