Charles Lee Canterbury age 70 passed peacefully Monday afternoon at 12:16 pm while in hospice care at the OSU Medical Center. Charles was born to Roy Lee Canterbury and Catherine Mae Fitch on July 6, 1951, in Williamson, West Virginia. He moved to Columbus with his mother in 1962 where he attended Indianola grade school and North High School. In later years he attended the Ohio Police Officers Training Academy. He worked security for the Franklin County Courthouse for 20 years retiring in 2016. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Catherine, brothers Perry Canterbury, Marc Hall, Vincent Hall, and Preston Blythe. He is survived by brothers Jeff Hall and Dana Werling; Aunts Mable Taylor, Ruth Sanders, Helen Dempsey and Uncles Tom Fitch Jr. and Donnie Fitch; nieces and nephews: Lisa, Lauren, Justin, Travis, Emily, Carolyn, Parker, Ryder, and soon to arrive Collette; great nieces and nephews: Sara Samantha, Perry, Angel, Molly, and Angelo, Jayven, Anthony, Jaxson, Charlotte, and Harlee; and several great-great nieces and nephews. Charles was a well-known basketball coach for Whitehall having influenced many young men he considered his own. He had an immense love for his home state of West Virginia and the WVU sports teams, golf, Steeler football, music, reading, history, had genius skills at Trivial Pursuit, loved a good John Wayne western movie, and was a true family man that loved his family with his whole heart. Charles was a member of Masonic Lodge 252, F&AM, 17 th Masonic District based in Stockport, Ohio. Friends may call Monday, March 28, 2022, 4-7 PM EVANS FUNERAL HOME 4171 E. Livingston Ave. where funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2022, 11:00 AM. Interment Franklin Hills Memory Gardens, Canal Winchester, OH.
