Obituary

Dana Ray Porter, retired United States Army Infantryman, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 25, 2021.  He was born in Logan, WV and graduated from Groveport Madison High School in Groveport, OH.  He served in the US Army and Army Reserves and worked at Fortner for over 20 years doing furniture repair and upholstery. Dana was a soldier, a father, a coach, and a Black Belt.  His training in the martial arts brought him peace.  Special thanks to his Sunday training crew who were with him in his final moments.  Dana is survived by son, Jeremy (Angela) Porter, daughters, Sara (Mike) Bush and Jessica Smitley, grandchildren, Harley, Kaytlin, Jericha, Ben and Jacob; brother & sister-in-law, Patrick H. &Gail (Martin) Porter; sister, Mary Lou (Porter) Owens and her children Steve, Darel, Danielle, Jody and Angela (Mike) VanDyke & children; sister & brother-in-law, Charles E. & Rosa (Porter/Johnson) Kiser; nephew Shawn D & Lisa Kiser; nieces Shawn Renee (Kiser) &Tyler Layne, Jordan Scott Kiser. Sheri E. Kiser; many other nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Fourtner, mother Helen Porter; infant sister Billie Jean Fourtner; brother & sister-in-law, Mike E.& Phyllis (Queen) Porter, brother-in-law Ronald Owens; nephew, Scott Charles Kiser. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him. Friends may call Friday July 30, 2021, 5-7 PM EVANS FUNERAL HOME 4171 E. Livingston Ave.   Burial services will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist in final expenses.
