Daniel Robert Edwards, AKA "Papa Smurf" and "The Mayor of Merritt Rd", passed away at the age of 70 on February 5, 2023. I imagine him with those who preceded him in death, greeting his wife Anna with a kiss while embracing "baby Gail" tightly in their arms. There will be a large family reunion with his parents, Carlton and Helen, along with brother Virgil and sisters Joyce and Gail.

He will be greatly missed by those left behind; siblings Kenny, Bernadine, Ernie, and Larry; daughters Daniall, Heather, and Patricia; and grandchildren J.B., Peige, Lexi, Cody, Hunter, Lana, Josh, Casey, Aspyn, Jake, Jason, and Jesse. Great grandchildren Carter, Harmony, Roman, and Owen will likely only know him through stories about their crazy "Papaw."

"Danny" lost his valiant fight against cancer after being diagnosed in the fall of 2022. He accepted his illness, never speaking of it, and continued to give of himself beyond his abilities. He suffered silently bringing joy and laughter to all those around him. Please join in his procession from 329 Merritt Rd. to the Jersey Cemetery at 12:30 PM on Monday, February 13. We invite all who live on Merritt Rd., not wishing to join the procession, to send their condolences by waving him on as we fulfill his final request to go from his home, on the road he loved, to his final resting place.
