EMMONS, Darrell Calvin 86, of London, Ohio, passed away on Thursday December 28, 2023, peaceful and comfortable in his home surrounded by love and family.  Darrell was born March 12, 1937, in Bellefontaine, Ohio to Alvah Clarence Emmons and Leona Francine Hemminger.  Darrell left school early to help out on the family farm.  He spent the remaining years of his career as a Cook/Chef throughout Central Ohio.  Darrell is preceded in death by both his parents and six brothers and sisters, Dorothy Marie, Carl Daniel, Ruth Annabelle, Martha Ellen, Roberta Betty and Ethel Marie.  Darrell was blessed to be uncle to many Nieces and Nephews including Roxanne and Lisa who lovingly visited and called him frequently throughout his last years.  Later in life he met and married the love of his life, Jewel (Julie).  He was brave enough to take on her ready-made family of six children.  Darrell is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Julie, and his stepdaughter, Valerie Kay.  Darrell is survived by five stepchildren, Alice Annette, Norman Duane, William Steven, Connie Sue and George Gregory as well has many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Darrell enjoyed spending time with Julie and her children as well as his many grandchildren.  The six of us were always so grateful that he took on this family.  He loved and cared for Julie and treated the rest of us as if he were our father.  He was a good, kind, sweet and thoughtful man. The family would like to thank Loving Care Hospice, and especially his Nurse, Whitney, as well as the entire staff of Loving Care as well at as Sherrie Burkhard his daytime care giver for all her hard work and kindness. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 12 p.m., and will be followed by a service at 1 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home 4171 E Livingston Ave. Pastor Tom Schwind officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
