David Byrum
Jolley
Sep 11, 1938 — Dec 21, 2023
Canal Winchester
David "Dave" Byrum Jolley of Canal Winchester, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023. Dave was born on September 11, 1938, in Columbus, Ohio to George and Nora (Byrum) Jolley. Dave graduated from Columbus North High School in 1957, attended The Ohio State University briefly after high school and graduated from Franklin University in 1981 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. Dave enlisted in the United States Army Reserves in May 1956 and was Honorably Discharged in April 1964. Dave worked for The Huntington National Bank and retired in 2002 after 41 years. He was also a member of the Reynoldsburg Masonic Lodge #340 F&AM. Dave is survived by his son, John Jolley, his daughter, Lynn (Kirby) Clark, grandchildren, David Clark, Sarah Clark and Katherine Jolley, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. Dave is preceded in death by his parents, George and Nora (Byrum) Jolley and his beloved wife, Daisy (Dettra) Jolley of 60 years. Dave was very active at Canal Winchester Methodist Church serving on the Staff Parish Committee and the Finance Committee. You could often find Dave working alongside his wife at most every Church event, lending a hand with whatever needed done. Dave enjoyed spending time with his 3 Grandchildren, whether it was babysitting for them, attending Grandparents Day at School, Boy Scout Events, Dance Recitals, reading books or playing games. The family is especially grateful to Dave's neighbors, Chad and Darla, for the love and care they showed Dave after his wife's passing, and niece Valerie White, and for fellow Church member and family friend, Sarita Bower. The simplest of acts of making meals or mowing his lawn or just being a good neighbor and checking on him was more than we could have asked for. We are also grateful for his Hospice Nurse Lisa for the love and care she has shown Dave for the past 8 months, for those key Nurses and Aides at The Inn at Olentangy Trail who took over his care for the past year, as well as countless volunteers at hospice who visited and spent time with him. In Lieu of flowers please consider donating to Canal Winchester Methodist Church.
