Obituary

Verna Dawn (Donna) Duncan passed away Wednesday 17, 2021 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Her Christian faith gave her comfort and strength knowing she would someday be reunited with her parents, sister, and friends alongside the Lord. She was an overly loving mother, caring sister, and amazing friend to all. She had a giving nature and an incredible sense of humor that shaped the core of her personality. Generosity was a trait that anyone who knew her was touched by in some way, often times being the person with the least and giving the most. Donna loved to spend time with her family and friends, listen to music (especially The Rolling Stones), watch evening TV, try new restaurants, and cook; especially for others. She was a unique, formidable spirit who will leave a gap in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, Donna lived the majority of her life in Whitehall. Donna felt blessed to grow up in a very tight-knit community surrounded by family; her beginnings on Maplewood Avenue with her sisters and parents. As a child she was a proficient gymnast. An alumnus of Whitehall-Yearling High School (1983). Unlike so many who lose contact, childhood friends became lifelong friends for Donna. Kathy Esquinas, Kathy Forest, Jill and Shelly Oxley, remained close for many years. Donna served the community in fine dining as a bartender and waitress who was beloved by patrons as well as the management, leading to her being the first ever female bartender at long-standing fine dining establishment The Top Steakhouse in Bexley, Ohio.

Donna is survived by 3 sons that she loved beyond words, Dustin Hill, Devin Nenoff, Dylan Hawk (Margaret Parson); Sister, Linda (Paul Chiles) Patton; Half-sister, Candy (Robert) Filip; Step sisters, Patty Johnson, Elizabeth Cunningham; Nieces, Tiffany (Chris) Mitchell, Carly (Adam) Worrall, Tonya (Christopher) Dehart; significant other of many years Richard Lee Withem and his children Amanda (Stephen) Goff, Ryan Withem and grandchildren who she held so dear to her heart, Jolie, Annie, and Aiden. Numerous other loving family and friends. Preceded in death by parents Carl and Madelyne Duncan, sister, Debbie (Travis) Clay and Steven Paul Hawk. Friends and family will gather to lay Donna to Rest at a Graveside Service at Glen Rest Cemetery on Friday, November 26, 2021 at 12:00 Noon.
