Doyle W. "Tippy" Tipton was born in Jonesboro, AR on May 10, 1926.  He joined the Navy at the young age of seventeen, following his older brother Charles "Charlie".  He served in World War II working as a Seaman First Class.  After receiving numerous awards in the Navy and was honorably discharged he moved to Michigan where he began his lifetime career as a truck driver for Hudsons. Retirement came at the young age of 62, when Doyle and his Little Buddy Ruth started their journey to find the perfect spot to get away from the cold Michigan winters.  They found their little piece of paradise in Lakeland, Florida at San Lan Ranch.  Tippy and Ruth spent the better part of twenty-five years being 'snowbirds'.  They traveled back and forth from Michigan to Lakeland every fall and spring making many stops along the way to visit family and friends.  Tippy was able to make the drive every year with Ruth as his co-pilot until he lost sight in his right eye at the age of 92.  Tippy passed away in the wee hours on St. Patrick's Day, Thursday, March 17, 2022, with family at his bedside.

Doyle was preceded in death by his father Victor Lee Tipton and mother Ruth Pierce.  His brothers Elmer "Buster" Tipton, Charles "Charlie" Tipton, their wives, Agnes Tipton and Dorothy Tipton.

Doyle is survived by the love his life, his wife Ruth Barnette Brown, also known as his Little Buddy, Ruth's daughter and son in law Glenda and Eddie Schneider. His brother and sister-in-law Bobby and Dora Barnette.  His nephew Charles Wallace (Anne) Tipton.  His nieces, Wanda Koski (Tipton) and Sheila Tipton.  He had two great nieces Melissa Tipton and Malorie Koski (Ryan) Ulfig.  He also had the joy of being the great-great uncle to Brayden and Benjamin Ulfig. All four of the children affectionately knew him as their Pop-pop and of course Ruth became known as Nana.
