Obituary

Dragica Panovska, 67, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 5, 2021 at home, surrounded by her family, after a courageous four-year battle with ALS.

She was born on September 17, 1953, in the village of Gorno Srpci in Macedonia, Europe, to Dobrivoj and Nadezda Janakievski. She immigrated to Columbus in 1969 and attended Eastmoor High School before receiving her associate's degree and beginning her career as a bank teller. In 1976, she married Blagoj Panovski and moved back to Macedonia, where the couple lived with their three daughters until immigrating back to Columbus in 1989. She worked as a bank teller beloved by her customers for nearly 30 years and was a long-time member of St. Mary's Macedonian Orthodox Church. Dragica was known for her cooking, her warmth to customers and friends, and her absolute joy doting on her grandchildren and spending time with family. Dragica is survived by her husband Blagoj Panovski, their three daughters, Elizabeta (Phil) Saken, Hristina (Paul Rentler) Panovska, and Aleksandra (Kelley Ashford) Panovska, her mother Nadezda Janakievska, sister Anica Janakievska, brother Vancho (Donna) Janakievski, grandchildren Aleksander, Kristofer and Lukas Saken, Josephine and Olivia Rentler, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and other beloved relatives. She was preceded in death by her father Dobrivoj Janakievski, her grandmother Vasilka Janakievska, her grandson Jude Rentler, and her mother-in-law Ilinka Panovska.

Private funeral for immediate family only. Church service will take place on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 12 noon at St. Mary's Macedonian Orthodox Church, 400 S. Waggoner Rd., Reynoldsburg, OH 43068. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5600 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH, 43213. Face masks and physical distancing required at all events.

Donations may be made in Dragica's name to the St. Mary's Macedonian Orthodox Church ( www.saintmaryohio.org ) or to the ALS Association Central & Southern Ohio Chapter ( www.alsohio.org ).
