On Sunday, July 3, 2022, Forrest Gene Horn, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at home at age 88.

Gene, as he was known to friends and family, was born July 24, 1933, in Inez, KY. He moved to Columbus, OH early in his adult life and had a long successful career as a carpenter. On January 1, 1978, he married Shirley Ann Horn (Anderson) and they had six children between them.

Gene had a passion for carpentry and building things with his hands. He could often be spotted in his garage tinkering with one thing or another or giving a grandkid a carpentry lesson. He loved to reminisce about his childhood in Inez and was never short on stories of the simple life growing up in Eastern Kentucky. More than anything, Gene enjoyed being with his grandchildren, who will always remember him sticking out his tongue and being quick with a joke, a snicker, and a hug.

Gene was preceded in death by his father Rufus Sr. and beloved mother Emma, brothers Haskell, Cecil, Leroy, and Rufus Jr., sisters Lois and Ethel, and grandchildren Michael, Angel, and Faith. He is survived by his wife Shirley and brother Herbert (Garnett) Horn, his 6 children Barbara (Ned) Mathias, James (Shirley) Reed, Jeffery Reed, Jay (Kathy) Reed, Jeannette (Steven) Mullins and William Reed along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral service Saturday, July 9, 2022 11:00 AM EVANS FUNERAL HOME 4171 E. Livingston Ave. where friends may call 1 hour prior to service. Burial to follow at Welsh Hills Cemetery, 1648 Welsh Hills Rd NE, Granville, OH 43203 at 1:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to the Alzheimer's Association at http://act.alz.org/donate in honor of Forrest Gene Horn.
