George Kasinecz, loving husband and father, passed away on February 27, 2024. He was 93 years old. George was born in Minersville, PA in 1931, the seventh of eight siblings. As a boy and throughout his life, George was a good student and always wanted to learn more. He was an avid reader and in later years one of his favorite pastimes was listening to books. He would often share his knowledge with others, especially related to space facts and gardening. During high school George was a star athlete in both baseball and football, leading to an invitation to try out as a pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Following graduation, he joined the Air Force which prevented him from going for the Dodgers tryout. He served at RAF Lakenheath, UK and then Lockbourne AFB, OH where he met his future bride, Mary Anne. George retired after 30 years from AT&T as a highly skilled tool and die maker. When he was young, George taught himself to play the harmonica and entertained people with his music throughout his lifetime. George loved the outdoors; swimming, fishing, bird watching, and especially gardening, generously sharing his bounty with neighbors and friends. He also enjoyed many years of bowling and golf and the friendships that went along with those activities. George and Mary Anne married in 1955 and moved to Williamsport, PA, where he continued his schooling, before returning to Columbus, OH, settling in Whitehall, and were some of the earliest parishioners at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. George loved the Lord and was always kind and caring and quick to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. George was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mary Anne (Litzinger), parents Peter Kasinecz and Mary (Petack), siblings John Kasinecz, Mary Mucha, Pauline Shission, Peter Kasinecz, Anna Ossman, Irene Beretsky, and Veronica Lord. He is survived by his children Mary Ellen (Fred) Young, Nancy Foltz, John (Irene) Kasinecz, Carol (Greg) Brooks, Paula Hall, and Michael (Maureen) Kasinecz; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to say a final goodbye to George at EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 4171 E. Livingston Ave, Columbus, on Monday, March 4, 5-7 p.m.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4383 E. Broad St, Whitehall, Tuesday, March 5, 11a.m. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Pataskala, OH.
