It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gladys Marie (Parsley) Gillmon, aged 88, who passed away October 14, 2024, in the comfort of her home with family by her side. Gladys was born November 5, 1935, in West Virginia, to Leo and Bertha (Spaulding) Parsley. Gladys graduated in 1954 from Fort Gay High School and was salutatorian of her class. Gladys and her husband of nearly 70 years knew each other as children. They married on October 25, 1954. Gladys was proud of the many years they were married. They began their married life together in Columbus, Ohio, where four children soon followed. Their children are Debbie, Shellie, Lorrie and Jason. Gladys was employed by Swan Cleaners for 10 years and volunteered in the Bexley Thrift Store for many years. All proceeds of the Bexley Thrift Store were given to the American Cancer Society, and Gladys was proud to be involved in this charity. In her spare time, Gladys loved to garden. Gladys was known for her kind and generous nature. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Bertha Parsley, siblings, Jim Parsley, Creasey (Parsley) Marcum, Laura Bell (Parsley) Marcum, Grover Parsley, Elmer Parsley, and Emily (Parsley) Chaffin. Dustin Drone, grandson also preceded Gladys in death. Gladys is survived by her husband, Harold, of 69 years and their four children, Debbie, Shellie (Dan), Lorrie and Jason. Gladys and Harold are survived by grandchildren Trinity (Duane), Darrell (Amy), Ammie, Michael (Rachel), and 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Gladys is also survived by a sister, Irene (Parsley) Robinson, and many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at Evans Funeral Home 4171 E. Livingston Ave Columbus, Ohio 43227 on October 19, 2024, at 1PM where friends may call 1 hour prior. Burial will immediately follow at the Jackson Township Cemetery on state route 104.
