Gorda
Kostrevski
Oct 26, 1949 — Sep 6, 2021
Gahanna
Gorda Kostrevski, 71, was born October 26, 1949, in Gavato, Yugoslavia – now known as North Macedonia. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, September 6, 2021, in Columbus Ohio.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband of 52 years, Dimche Kostrevski; her children, Mary Brutovski and Diana Rees (Mike); her grandchildren, Bianca, Antoni, David, Dominic and Martina; her brother Petar Jurukovski, and his three daughters, seven grandchildren and great grandchild; her sister Blagica (Metodi) Panov and her two daughters and four grandchildren; her sister Snezana (Rasko) Stankovik and her two sons and two grandchildren and many other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Cveta 'Lola' Jurukovska, her father, Kiril Jurukovski. And her sister-in-law Luba Jurukovska.
An immigrant to the United States from Yugoslavia in 1969, becoming a lifelong member of St. Mary's Macedonian Church, Gorda and Dimche envisioned and created a prosperous life full of joy, love and happiness. She was Dimche's Guiding Light and a devoted wife and homemaker for her daughters and grandchildren. She and her husband, sisters and brother have cultivated a family of love and friendship. She shared that love through cooking traditional Macedonian favorites – kefli, zelnik, burek, petoulići and more. A passionate gardener, her grandchildren have many memories going to the backyard garden and picking piperki.
Gorda's elegance radiated through her smile that lit up each room she walked in. Equally beautiful was her genuine heart and kindness that she taught her daughters and grandchildren to share with others. Her sincere acts of service were felt through gatherings and warmth she brought to the table with her family. Gorda made her family feel loved, and her love continues to be felt through generations. There was no place more nurturing than Baba Gorda's house.
