Gretchen Risch (Schneider), age 92, died Sunday, April 6, 2025, at First Community Village. She was preceded in death by her parents Rex and Elsa (Mees) Schneider and her husband of 65 years, David. She is survived by her sister Lee (Steve) Kimbleton, son, Steve (Dianne), Adam and Jake, son Pete (Jill), Lauren and Jen, and daughter Elisabeth (Guy) Dilz, Sarah and Tommy. Gretchen was born January 11, 1933, in Regina Saskatchewan Canada where she graduated from Luther College High School. She came to Ohio to attend Capital University where she studied Science and sang in the Chapel Choir. She later taught Biology and Chemistry at Reynoldsburg High School. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Whitehall where her husband David served as parish pastor for many years. During retirement, she enjoyed many hobbies including creating beautiful watercolor paintings, traveling throughout the states and Europe, and continuing her love of teaching and learning by participating in a myriad of lifelong learning programs. She will be fondly remembered for her warm personality and genuine smile.

A memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 730 Collingwood Ave on Saturday April 26, 2025, at 11 am with calling hours preceding the service beginning at 10 am. Reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Faith Lutheran Church (faithwhitehall.com), Capital University (capital.edu) or the Dr. Rex & Elsa Schneider Scholarship Fund at Luther College High School (luthercollege.edu)
