Norman Allen Hively, July 7, 1931-October 7, 2017, and

Helen Elizabeth Hively, September 30, 1930-July 5, 2025, were married July 12, 1952.  They celebrated 65 years of marriage in 2017.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 8, 2025, at 11 am at Old Trinity Lutheran Church, 404 S. Third St, Columbus.

Dad was born in Brandywine, West Virginia, the seventh of eight children of Loy Eston (1892-1979) and Estella Wilhelmina Sibert Hively (1891-1967).  Dad came to Columbus after graduating high school.  He worked for the religiously based Augsburg Publishing House for over 40 years, rising from the stockroom to trade sales representative.

Mom was born in Cedarhurst (now Whitehall) Ohio, the fourth and youngest child of William Andrew (1897-1966) and Marie Wannemacher Richie (1902-1949).  After graduating from high school, Mom worked as a secretary for the bishop of the American Lutheran Church.  The bishop's office was in the Augsburg building.  They met in the employee break room.  After her children were grown she returned to school, got an associate's degree from Columbus State and worked for 15 years as a dietetic technician at Heinzerling.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Billy (1926-39), Bobby (1927-39) and Jeffrey (1929-2017).

Dad was preceded in death by his parents and 5 brothers and sisters, Louise (1916-2000), Tilman (1917-96), Earl (1925-95), Luther (1919-2007) and Elaine (1928-2017).  He was survived by 2 sisters, Mary Mae (1934-2023) and Virginia (1923-2025).

They are survived by their family:

Daughter Carol and son-in-law Chuck Giametta of Denver.

Son Mark and former daughter-in-law Sheila Hively of Columbus.

Granddaughters Noel and Brendan Magee of Denver, Calli and Nick Van Gundy of Kansas City and Ariel and Rome Hively of Sacramento.

Grandsons Zachary and Michelle Durban of Cincinnati and Evan and Katie Hively of Dublin.

Great grandchildren, Claire and Teddy Durban, Everly, Charlotte and Declan Magee, and McKinley and Remy Hively.
