Jacquelyn Kibbey was born on July 28th, 1948, and passed on April 22nd,2026, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, William Kibbey MD, her mother, Eileen Peterfy, her father, Donis E. Smith and her stepfather, Bela Peterfy. She is survived by her son Kris Kibbey (Angela), cousins Dave (Fay) Kohler and Amy (Tom) Hanes.
Jacque was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from The Ohio State University with her B.A.E. (1971), M.A (1975) and Ph.D. (1977). After graduating, she worked as an instructor for the Department of Art Education at Ohio State from 1977-1979. From 1979-1989 she worked at the Fairbanks North Star School District as a curriculum coordinator in Arts K-12. During this time she also was an adjunct professor for the University of Fairbanks Alaska.
After moving to NY in 1991, she was employed at SUNY Oswego department of curriculum and instruction where she taught until she retired in 2017. She created and coordinated the MAT Grades K-12 Art Education Program that continues today. She enjoyed traveling to state and national conferences (NAEA, NYSATA, ASCD) and presented on keynote topics. She was published numerous times over the years and would judge the scholastic art competitions in Syracuse.
Apart from her love for teaching, she also enjoyed being around her dogs, horses and spending time at her cabin in Canada. She spent many years supporting her son Kris and husband Bill with their horseback riding, trainings and shows. She also really enjoyed ceramics and had a studio at her house. Later in life she developed a passion for Tai Chi, taking classes, going to seminars and workshops. She met and developed great friendships with people surrounding these activities along the way.
Kris would also like to thank her care team of Pam Sisson, Angie Hibbard, Andrea Williams and Gabrielle Krafft for the amazing care they provided over the last three years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation in her name.
Funeral service Saturday, May 2, 2026 12:00 Noon EVANS FUNERAL HOME 4171 E. Livingston Ave. where friends may call from 10:00 AM until time of service. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday June 13, 2026, from 11-2pm at Kristin's Kitchen at Battle Island State Park in Fulton NY.
