James (Jim) Hilsabeck, age 92, of Columbus, Ohio, died peacefully on January 21, 2023.  Jim was preceded in death by his sons Steven Hilsabeck and Scott Hilsabeck, his parents, Marguerite Wilson (Hilsabeck) Gibson and Cecil Hilsabeck, sisters Billie Bonifay and Pattie Weatherly and brother Fred Hilsabeck.  Jim is survived by his daughter, Terri (Mark) Thompson, grandsons Taylor Hilsabeck, Brandon (Julie) Thompson, Nathan (Christina) Thompson, and great-granddaughter, Kaia Thompson and various other family members.

Jim worked in the meter department for Columbus & Southern/AEP for many years and had the good fortune of retiring when he was just 55 years old.  He enjoyed playing cards at the Firefighters VFW Post 3426 and trying his luck at the card tables at the casino whenever he got the chance.  Jim was a kind and loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and he will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank all the health care professionals from Bella Care Hospice and Majestic Care of Whitehall for their great care in the last month of his life.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts may be made to the Celebrate Life Foundation, www.celebratelife-foundation.net , or to another charity of your choice.

Friends may call Thursday, January 26, 2023, 4-7 PM EVANS FUNERAL HOME 4171 E. Livingston Ave.  Funeral services will begin at 12:00 noon on January 27, 2023. Interment to take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5600 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43213.
