Obituary

Jessie Zinn Dailey, 94, passed away on January 10, 2024, surrounded by her family. Jessie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. A former deacon at Brookwood Presbyterian Church, she was devoted to her faith. She was a graduate of West Virginia University and carried her curiosity and love of learning with her throughout her life. Jessie loved the symphony, crossword puzzles, and a good conversation. She was incredibly generous and cared deeply for people and animals. Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Dailey. She is survived by her daughters, Carey Dailey (Don Edgar) and Michael Ann Shoaf (Steve Walters); her granddaughters, Shandon Burnside (Rebecca Burnside) and Devin Wood (Jim Wood); her great grandchildren, Baker, Dailey, Mae, Jack, and Walker; and family friend, Ken Shoaf. She is also survived by many friends who added fun, excitement, travel, and food and wine to her life: the Wheeling (WV) group, the Monday Night Wings group, the Fairway Oaks lunch ladies, her Fairway Oaks friends and neighbors, the Bridge Club, the Bridge Club that went to lunch, and the Church group. At Jessie's request, she will be cremated and buried beside Tom in Greenwood Cemetery in Wheeling, WV, without a funeral or service. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to WVU in her name or a contribution to a charity of your choice.
