In the evening of January 1, 2023, John D. "Jake" Moorer was called to be with the Lord.  Born October 9, 1945, in Greenville, Alabama, the oldest of eight, to the late Ira and Fannie Mae Moorer.  He attended and graduated from Lowndes County Training School.  He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Vietnam War.  He retired from Fabcon in 2013 as a Masonry Truck Driver after over 40 years of service.  Jake was a dedicated worker, who loved to travel with family, (listening to Blues Music while driving). He was an outgoing person, who loved to socialize with friends and bowling. John had a special, God-gifted way of reaching out and touching others in a way that can only be directed by Jesus. He was a symbol of love for his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Fannie Mae Moorer; brother, Samuel Moorer and sister Mary Lee "Mama Suga" Bell.  Survived by his loving daughters, Alexis and Paris Prentiss; lifetime partner, Carolyn Prentiss; siblings, Charlie C. (Della) Moorer of Columbus, OH, Harrison L. (Willie Lee) Moorer of Mt. Willing, AL, Linda Moorer of Pensacola, FL, Tisha (Charles) Dickerson of Irmo, SC, and Pearlie (Clyde) Cross of Montgomery, AL; he also leaves four grandchildren Robert, England, Anthony, and London, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  Friends may Call Wednesday, January 11, 2023, 6-8 PM EVANS FUNERAL HOME 4171 E.
