Jose Antonio Velasquez, 76, of Guayama, Puerto Rico, succumbed to his illnesses & passed away on June 23, 2021. He was strong and fought to the end, never giving up.  Jose (or Tony as he loved to be called) was born September 11, 1944, in Guayama, Puerto Rico to Pablo Velasquez and Anastasia Gonzalez.  Tony came from Puerto Rico to Chicago in the late 1950s. He lived there for a few years then moved to New York in the 60s. He's lived in many different places planting his roots and leaving an impact on those he knew. He was a renowned chef for many years and the owner of several restaurants in the 90s.  Tony was always dressed to impress. He spent his free time cooking, gardening, fishing, listening to his oldies, watching CNN & boxing. He loved to be outdoors fishing and being one with nature. He loved taking care of his animals.  Tony is survived by his daughters, his sons, brothers, sisters, and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.  A private burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
