Kathleen Levingston Busche, age 91 passed away on May 26, 2022. She was a very special lady to all that knew her and especially to her daughter and family.  She was charismatic and had a true zest for life.  Not only a wonderful mother and wife, but a favorite Aunt, a special friend, a good neighbor and a major fashion legend, she lived her life to the fullest, inspiring people to be all they wanted to be. Whether she was chairing and planning a special event, raising money for charity, giving back to her community, or simply enjoying Christmas with family, Kathleen loved it all.  Born on March 29, 1931, in Newark Ohio, Kathleen graduated from Newark High School in 1949 and went on to follow her dreams by continuing her education in NYC at John Robert Powers Finishing school, Barbizon Professional Modeling and the Fashion Merchandising School of NYC. As many knew her true life's passion was the fashion industry, which she was fortunate to work in for 65+ years.  A model in NYC in her early 20's, she later pursued a career as Fashion Director for The Fashion Company, a prominent Allied Department Store in downtown Columbus in the 1960's.  There she originated a High School Advisory and College Board called Seventeen Beauty workshop where she started a scholarship fund for the students and was recognized with a National Salute to Youth Award. She kept in touch with many of the students and is still close to several of them today. In 1967 she was honored as Career Woman of the Year by the Columbus Citizen Journal of Columbus OH. The article stated she was a trend setter for women in Columbus and not afraid to be bold with her shocking Pink carpet throughout her home and her powder pink kitchen with all pink appliances that still remain today. Proud to be a native of Central Ohio she spent most of her adult life dedicated to community and charitable organizations that improve the well-being of others. She has always felt it is invaluable to give more than you receive. She was privileged to be a member and past president of many organizations: March of Dimes Women's Board, Easter Seals, The National City of Hope Chapter 518, Regional Director of the International Fashion Group Columbus Chapter, The Columbus Symphony Orchestra, The Berwick Unit, Zephyrus league, a founding member of Stargazer Charities, and a dedicated member and past President of the Grant Women's Service Board, where in 2013 she was honored for over 52 years of service. She was the proud owner of Kathleen Busche Prestige Modeling School and Beauty Salon for over 25 years spanning from 1970-1990's. While many came to become models, some came for self-improvement. One of her biggest rewards was mentoring many young women and men helping them to realize that they could reach for the stars with confidence and become successful if they put their mind to it and believed. Kathleen felt if you love what you do then you never worked a day in your life, which she did so she considered her life a success. Professionally, she was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Metropolitan Club, Women's Economical Development, and the National Modeling Association, as well as a life member of the Brookwood Presbyterian Church. Kathleen and her husband George enjoyed hosting pool parties where they celebrated many special occasions with live music and good food with many neighbors, friends, and later even parties with her daughters' friends at the yearly "Busche Bash". She and George were snowbirds and spent winters in Sebring FL with her side of the family for many years and even continued to go down to spend time with her nieces and friends after George passed. Preceded in death by her husband, George F Busche of 55 years, her mother Esther E. Levingston, her father Carey Raymond Levingston, brothers Orville J. and Ralph Dean of Sebring FL, and lifelong friend Fran Luckoff. She is survived by her only child, Lisa and her husband Kevin Welch of Dublin, Ohio, her only grandchild, Zachary Frederick Welch, a student at the University of Cincinnati ("You are My Sunshine"), her sister Beatrice Reeb, nieces Lori Brown and Tori Kaufholz, several more nieces and nephews, special friends Carol Kurtzman, Vilma and Victor Zayas and so many other lifelong friends. She wanted all to know she lived an incredible life and was fortunate that she was touched by so many wonderful people. "I was never unhappy in my career; never unhappy in my marriage or my life as a mother so my life was happy. And friendships were paramount to me as I had lifelong friends some that I met at the end of my journey and some for as long as 50-60-70 years who I have loved and treasured." In lieu of a funeral Kathleen requested a celebration to remember the good times and the laughter that so many shared with her over her 91 years.  As many know she and George were known for being excellent dancers, jitterbugs in particular, and they were known to clear the dance floor, we are sure they are cutting the rug together again.
