Obituary

Kenneth (Ken) Neil Walters, also known by his siblings as "Kenny", by his children as "Pop", and his grandkids & great grandkids as "Grandpa Walters"
Ken Walters was born in Delbarton, WV on July 5th, 1940; the Walters family then moved to Williamsport, KY (just outside the city of Paintsville) from 1948-1955 before finally moving up to Columbus, OH. After putting up a good fight, Ken passed on January 14th, 2022, at 8:57pm in the care of OSU East hospital in Columbus, OH due to covid complications. He was 81 years old.
Ken Walters was the proud son of Gaylord & Kathleen Walters (deceased); brother to Gary Walters (deceased), Flo (Bud) Clark, Odell (Karen) Walters, David Walters, Diana Howes; survived by his beloved wife & soulmate Wanda L. Walters, daughter Sharon (David) Brown, and sons Michael E. Walters & Stephen M. Walters; grandchildren Michelle Brown, Jeffrey Brown, Alexander Walters and great grandchildren Connor, Drevynn and Kinlee.
Ken Walters was an accomplished artist and won awards during his time at West high school in Columbus, OH before graduating in 1958. As US Navy veteran (1958-1962), Ken served honorably aboard the USS Northhampton as a radio operator. During his Naval days, he traveled across the Atlantic Ocean, officially crossing the Artic Circle on Feb. 26th, 1960, and across the Gulf of Mexico, where he was present during the Cuban Missile Crisis (aka the Bay of Pigs) in 1961. After his naval days, Ken took a job at DSCC where in early 1965, he met his future wife & soulmate Wanda Brenneiser at a club called The Driftwood. As the story goes...Wanda was putting on her coat to leave the club, when in one complete motion, Ken stepped up and swung her coat off her shoulders as if he was a noble Matador standing in the center of the bull ring swinging his cape, and then took her by the hand for the last dance of the night. They dated and were married six months later on July 3rd...whereas I was born on November 22nd, 1967. The rest, as they say, was history. Ken and Wanda were happily married for 56 years.
