Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend, Laura Kay Walden entered into God's Kingdom on January 6th, 2022 at age 62 after battling with complications exacerbated by COVID-19. Laura had found peace and welcomed the opportunity "to go home to be with her heavenly father". She was surrounded by many loving family members who gathered to say goodbye during her final day. Laura was tirelessly devoted to raising her son Chris, along with help provided from former husband Edgar Walden. While raising Chris provided no small task, she also endeavored to bolster her career rising through positions at Huntington Bank, Alliance Data Systems, and Nationwide Insurance. She challenged herself to return to school and achieved a Medical Assistant certification that enabled her to provide care to many while working at Ohio Health Center. While she enjoyed the medical profession, she could not turn down the opportunity of finishing her career at The Ohio State University as an administrative assistant in the French and Italian Department. Laura was adored by students, coworkers and friends alike, who describe her as a kind soul. She made an impact on the lives of many. Retiring from the University was not the end of her work, after retirement she took on the task of pushing her eldest grandson Malachai to finish his High school degree and would not rest until he did. Laura is survived by son: Chris Walden (Heather); Grandsons: Malachai, Zaiden and Kaiden Walden; Brothers Van and Franklin Stephenson Jr: Sister Margaret Evans (Greg); Nieces and Nephews: Jocelyn Stephenson, Judith Pack (Jamie), Kalyn Evans, Shawn Evans, Nathan Leggett, Gabriel Leggett, Abigail Pack, Charlotte Pack and Adalynn Evans-Hoermle. Laura was preceded in death by infant son Edgar Walden Jr., Mother Katherine Stephenson,
Father Franklin Stephenson Sr., and Sister Freda Stephenson. Despite having spent the vast majority of her life with a city address, Laura took great interest in the country way of living and her West Virginia roots. She avidly followed many country living blogs such as The Pioneer Woman from her early beginnings. Laura cherished family life above all and devoted most of her energy into nurturing those relationships. She also had immense love for the numerous canine companions she joyfully cared for up until her final days. Laura was a woman of faith who truly believed in her convictions. She will be sorely missed by all whom she came in contact with and always fondly remembered. A small private viewing will be held for Laura at Evans Funeral Home on January 12th from 11-12pm.
