Mamie Catherine (Domenica Catherine Mogavero) Capoziello, age 97, Columbus, Ohio, went to her Heavenly Father peacefully in her sleep with her Rosary in her hand on January 25, 2022. Mamie was born on November 22, 1924, in Columbus, Ohio.  Most important role in her long life, she was a servant of God. The Shining Light of God's Face reflected from her daily lifting up everyone graciously and giving peace to everyone. Her everlasting love for God that came from her big heart overflowing to help her family, friends, and others. Always putting others first and taking care of everyone.  She was devoted to our Holy Mother Mary and the Rosary.  Her Faith is why she lived such a beautiful long life. She knew her calling was being a devoted loving wife and mother.  We are blessed God chose our Mother, she lived for her children and was always there for them.  She loved us unconditionally and let us make mistakes and make decisions on our own.  She taught us to be loving, compassionate and respectful. She was first Sicilian- America generation.  Founding member and devoted Catholic of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church and belong to the Silver Stars and Daughters of Mary.  Graduate of St. Dominic's Catholic School, Central High School Class of 1942, and Bliss Business School.  Public servant at D.C.S.C during WWII.  Co-Owner of Capoziello's Catering, Capoziello's Restaurant and Sports Bar, Port Bar I and Port Bar II Restaurants.  Mamie dedicated 47 years of hard work in the Restaurant Business to achieve the American Dream of owning her own businesses and keeping her family close to her.  Sharing original Sicilian recipes passed down to her from her mother and grandmother from Isnello, Sicily.   She loved cooking and proud that she and her family fed thousands of people in her dining rooms and celebrating with customers their special occasions.  She loved to talk to everyone and made everyone so comfortable.  Our Family, Staff and Customers were "One Big Happy Italian Family". Mamie's calling was being the most compassionate and loving mother to us.   She had three sons in five years and her daughter nine years later.  She knew who she was and exactly what she wanted in life.  Mamie was ahead of her times.  Everyone said she had the cleanest children in the neighborhood.  She washed our clothes and hung them on several clothes lines in the backyard.  She would iron and sew our clothes.  Her children would pick blackberries from their bush in the backyard for her to make homemade pies.   She helped with Mike's Boy Scout Troop to purchase food for their camping trips, she was a Room Mother who organized holiday parties and serve Hot Chocolate to the Safety Patrol for Willis Park Elementary School from 1957 to 1976.  She was involved with several school activities to raise money and attend sporting team events with her children.   She loved to grocery shop almost daily for fresh food and prepared the most amazing meals on a strict budget.  We enjoyed her teaching us how to cook at early ages just like her mother Concetta.  We learned how to make our family recipes of homemade pasta, recipe for Sugu (tomato sauce), pizza, Sicilian Arancini and cookies, everything to perfection.  She accepted her children individually and to learn to be their own person.   Mamie always asking if there was anything we needed or if she can help us.  Mamie was always the care giver to relatives and friends for decades.  Mamie lived for her children. Mamie loved going on vacations to see family and friends, attending food shows, festivals, celebrating meals at restaurants, gardening, casinos, traditionally going to The Ohio State Fair since 1957 with family, Columbus Zoo, watching fireworks in the Capoziello's parking lot, bowling for decades and proud of her 185 average, shopping, going to the beauty shop and celebrating life every day. Preceded in death by her husband, Albert A Capoziello and son Albert D Capoziello, father and mother Anthony and Concetta Mogavero from Isnello, Sicily, brothers Joseph, Samuel and Anthony Mogavero, grandparents Salvatore, Jenni (Vacca) Mogavero, and Domenica Mogavero. Survived by her Lifetime Caregivers son Michael and daughter Sandra Capoziello of Columbus,  son Stephen Capoziello of Reynoldsburg; sister, Jane Patrick of Windsor, CA, her children Pia (John) McKenna, and Mike Patrick, granddaughters, Jacquelyn (Brent) Reynard, Jennifer (Todd) Worthington, Stephanie (Ronald) Hallock, seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Teresa Capoziello of Westerville, brother-in-law Joe Capoziello of Columbus; Joanne and Jim Flovins of FL, Barbara Woods and Denise (Allen) Dahl of NV, Dr. Maxwell Hill, best friend Annie Jenson and daughter Shari Webster of Columbus; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We would like to thank OSUMC Dr's John Larry, Albert Kolibash, Benjamin Sun for their decades of professional health care that let us be with our Mother all these years.  Family will receive friends at EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 4171 East Livingston Ave, on Thursday, February 3, 2022, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 10 a.m., St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 1573 Elaine Rd.
