Mamie Hansford, 91, passed peacefully surrounded by family on February 8, 2023. Mamie in all her sassy glory was born alongside her twin brother Mason on June 15, 1931. She was raised in Bruton, Alabama and the baby of 12 siblings. She lived a long life full of so many adventures. Hearing her stories and seeing the pictures of her travels will forever be cherished.

Mamie was married twice in her life. She was widowed by her 1 ^st husband, Theo Lee Batchelor (Batch) who she had her two children, Judy and Guy with.  Mamie met the love of her life Homer Hansford, and they married in Reno, Nevada in 1961. She was a proud military wife and the love she showed for this country was impressive.

Mamie, who was lovingly referred to as Granny loved being outdoors. Her passion for gardening and her ability to make anything grow was incredible. She was also such an amazing cook, and her food was to die for! If she was not gardening, cooking, or spending time with friends and family, you could find her sitting in her chair crocheting, quilting, or doing her word search with her beloved dogs right beside her. In her final years she would find her happy place just sitting on her porch basking in the warmth of the sun.

Mamie has never met a stranger. She would welcome everyone with open arms and always had plenty of love to give. She was a proud member of the Eastwood Seventh Day Adventist Church for many decades. Her church family was very much loved by her, and it was very rare that she would miss a service. After she could no longer physically make it to church, she made sure to watch it on TV every Saturday.

Granny was most proud of the large family that she created and nurtured. She was able to experience being a daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, all siblings, both husbands, two stepchildren, daughter Judy, and great grandson Keith. Granny is survived by her most cherished and beloved dogs, Hansel, Gretel, Patricia, and Joseph Hansford, Son, Guy (Anita) Batchelor, Grandchildren, Kristi (Fred) Hatfield, Chad (Tamisha) Dangerfield, Ali Noorbakhsh, Afsheen (Angelica) Noorbakhsh, Gerri Blosser, Great-Grandchildren, Kristin-Lee (Anthony) Phillips, Martin Dangerfield, Aleah Noorbakhsh, Anthony Noorbakhsh, Sophia Noorbakhsh, Suri Noorbakhsh, Rachelle (Jason) Cusick, Danielle (Brian) Maxwell, Great-great grandchildren, Mason, Jaxxin, Braxtin, Saige (Great-great grand-dog), Iniko, Madison, Cooper, Jocelyn, Avery, Connor, Austin, Elijah, and many nieces, nephews, and friends that she cherished very much.

Gathering of friends and family will be held Thursday, February 16, 2023 4:00 – 6:30 PM EVANS FUNERAL HOME 4171 E. Livingston Ave. where a service of remembrance will be held at 6:30 PM. Pastor Kyle Baldwin officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
