Marcella May
Marr
Jun 20, 1929 — Jun 2, 2025
Reynoldsburg
Marcella Bosworth Marr passed away Monday June 2 2025 at the age of 95. She was a resident of Wesley Ridge Retirement Center in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Married to the love of her life, Clifton, for 73 years, they had a wonderful life together, and raised three children in Bexley, Ohio. Marcella was an employee of Lane Aviation and later served as the secretary to the Superintendent of Columbus Public Schools, a career spanning seventeen years. She was a member of the Bexley Women's Club and a long-time active member of Brookwood Presbyterian Church, where she served as Sunday school teacher, Elder, and Chairperson of various Ministry Units and Committees. An accomplished seamstress, Marcella shared stories of Saturdays in her grandmother's dress-making shop where she learned to love fabrics and clothing design, which remained an interest and passion. Reading was also an important part of Marcella's life. After retirement she organized two book discussion groups – the Book Babes and another book club, comprised of men and women bringing different perspectives to the discussion. Summers spent at the family's lakeside camp in Groton, VT brought Marcella a tremendous amount of pleasure. Family gatherings of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were special, and wonderful memories were made from time spent there with "Grandmother and Papa". Traveling the world and experiencing different cultures was another passion of Marcella's. After retirement she and Cliff enjoyed visiting various foreign countries. They also had many adventures flying around the US in their Cessna Cardinal airplane. Her family remembers her as a spirited wordsmith, whether crafting personalized Christmas poems for each grandchild or dominating family Scrabble games. Her strong will shone through in conversations, always driven by her widespread knowledge and unwavering beliefs. Marcella was born in East St. Louis to the late Marcellus and Irene Garrett Bosworth, the only daughter with two younger brothers. She is survived by her loving husband Clifton, son C. Thomas, Jr (Roberta) of Portimao, Portugal; daughter Linda Puvogel (Timothy) of Virginia Beach, VA; son Stephen (Susan) of Basking Ridge, NJ, along with 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Evans Funeral Home of Columbus Ohio. A memorial service will be held at the Kimes Chapel at Wesley Ridge on July 2, 2025 at 3pm.
