Mary Jo Tackett (Doane), aged 63, passed away peacefully on October 19th, 2024, with her
loving husband Dean by her side. Mary was born on May 8th, 1961, in Willard, Ohio to Walter E.
"Woody" Tackett and Dolores A. "Duck" Tackett. Mary was a proud resident of Columbus, OH
and was a graduate of Willard High School where she excelled in track and field, competing in
the State High School Championships held at The Ohio State University stadium. Following
high school, Mary graduated from Bowling Green State University, and later wed her beloved
husband Dean under the rotunda of that same stadium. She was a dedicated fan of the
Buckeyes, as well as a lifelong Cleveland Browns supporter. Mary was a kind & selfless soul who put others before her own needs, sometimes at her own detriment. She was best known for her 30+ years as a career bartender at the famous Leipzig Haus ("The 'Zig") in Bexley, Ohio, as well as other local taverns. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Woody and Dolores, and her Mother-in-Law Barbara Doane. She is survived by her faithful husband of 21 years, Dean E. Doane; her Father-in-Law Michael Doane; sisters, Nancy Tackett (Bill) & Carol Tackett; siblings-in-law, Lisa Doane (Joe), Dennis Doane (Melinda), Lori Phillips (Tony); nieces and nephews, Amy Gardner, Glenn Gardner, Kristen Levy-Vaughan (Kevin), Jacob Levy (Chelsea), Emily Doane, Maggie Phillips, and Mia Phillips; great nieces and nephews, Nathaniel Crabtree, Braelyn Gardner, Taylor Gardner, Ryder Gardner, Lavinia Levy-Vaughan, Lennon Levy; and Goddaughter Logan Shover. Heartfelt thanks to Dorothy Mitchell, Mark Behn, Julia Southall, Pattie Karr, Karen Wachtel, Lori Phillips, and everyone else who's helped during this difficult time.
