Melvin Leon Anderson, age 95, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. Born March 5, 1929 in Girard, IL to the late Ralph and Hazel (Stults) Anderson. After graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War.  Following six years of service to his country, he married the love of his life, Marian (Wickline) Anderson, who preceded him in death after 59 years of marriage.  Mel retired from the Defense Construction Supply Center in Columbus, OH. He was a faithful member of Eastpointe Christian Church and a loving servant to God, family and friends.

Mel is survived by son, Russell Anderson; daughters, Rebecca Gardner and Brenda (Darryl) Burnette; grandchildren, Michelle (Aaron) Adame, Allison Anderson, Stephanie Marek, Danielle (Emory) Eschelbach, Bethany (James) Wright, Bobbie (Ben) Burnworth, Jesse (Megan) Burnette, Heather (Courtney) Bailey; eight great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Sharon (Richard) Lee and Louise Wickline; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brother Glen Anderson, sisters-in-law Marie Anderson and Eileen Gosnel, brothers-in-law Jack Wickline and Eldon Wickline, daughter-in-law Kimberly Marek, son-in-law Glen Gardner and granddaughter Melissa Anderson.

Friends may call Monday, October 21 from 11:30 AM until funeral service at 1:30 PM EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 4171 E. Livingston Ave., Pastor Andre Norman officiating. Entombment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eastpointe Christian Church or Honor Flight.
