Obituary

Michael Warren Craighead was born April 14, 1949, in East Gulf, West Virginia, to Esther and William Craighead. Michael proudly served in the United States Army from 1969 through 1972, during the Vietnam Conflict, achieving the rank of Specialist 5/E-5 over the course of his three years on Active Duty. He began his time in service as an Armorer, where he earned a Marksmanship Badge with the M-16 and a Sharpshooter Badge with the M-14. Michael completed the Quartermaster Course and served as a Unit Supply Specialist (76Y) with the Headquarters and Headquarters Battery (HHB) of the 1st Battalion of the U.S. Army Europe and Africa (USAREUR). In 1972, Specialist Craighead concluded his Active Duty service and was Honorably transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve. On January 25, 2025, Michael left his physical body, but his spirit will forever be in our hearts. Michael will be remembered for the love, kindness, and joy he brought into the lives of those around him. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Brenda Carr; stepchildren, Jenee' Jones, Jessica Carr, and Carlos Carr; daughter, Cheniqua Hairston; grandchildren, Tavion Carr, London Carr-Ellis, Makayla Hairston, Tyler Hairston, and Allara Hairston; brothers, Otha Craighead, Leroy Craighead, Thomas Craighead, and Timothy Craighead; along with a host of other family members and friends.
