Obituary

With the Heaviest Hearts… It is with overwhelming sadness that we share Nicholas Tyler Gaston passed away unexpectedly the morning of May 8th, 2025, from what we believe was a massive heart attack. This is the greatest heartbreak our family has ever known.

Nick leaves behind his partner Jalissa Warner and their four precious babies—Nicholas Jr. age 5, Lyra age 3, Nickson age 2 and Magnus who is 2 months old. Also surviving are Nick's parents, Kim (Jeffrey) Cardwell and Roy Gaston. Sisters-Carrie (Brandon) Jackson, Jessica (Jesse) Mathews, Brittany Cardwell and Morgan Lucas. Nieces and nephews-Isaac Keeno, Amari Gaston, Mia and Mason Mathews, Hannah Malone, Briellah McCormick, Brooklyn Bailey, Kamilah, Kamalah, and Kamarah Manuel. Aunts and Uncles-Debbie (Walt) Brigman, Cheri (Doug) Campbell, Jenny (Ken) Prickett, Beth (Tom) Johnson, Darryl Murphy and Bryan Powers. Cousins- Katie (Chris) Nichols, Cassie Sedwick, Emily Elliott, Quinn (Joanne) Powers, Lyric (Chris) Powers, Neila (Nate) Ray, Trisha (Jeff) Wright, Jeremy (Ashley) Theis, Tristan Johnson, Megan (John) Jugan, Rae (Diatra) Murphy, Jared (Mandy Murphy), Corey (Kayla) Sedwick, Kevin (Avery) Sedwick, Kylie Sedwick, Cayden Sedwick, Logan and Alexis Smith, Jake Theis, Riley Mabe. Special Friends-Joe Lutz, Taylor Bond Ryan and Branson Stinson. Honorary Uncle-Dean Platt. It is impossible to list everyone who Nick considered close friends and family, please know we are so grateful for each of you and the chapter or chapters you contributed to in his book of life.

If you were lucky enough to meet Nick—affectionately known as "Afrozilla"—you know you were better for it. Someone said yesterday, "I never saw him without a smile," and that smile is one of the many things we will miss most.

He was the definition of a gentle giant. His hugs made you feel safe and loved. His love and dedication to his children were unmatched. If you were Nick's friend, you were his family! He would do anything for the people he cared about—as long as it was in their best interest. Always ready to listen or debate a topic (passionately!), he wasn't trying to argue—he truly believed in sharing knowledge that could help others.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, June 20th from 5:30pm-9pm at Warner Woods Park, 4790 Warner Rd., Westerville, Ohio

A GoFundMe has been established to help cover the cost of final expenses and to help support his babies through this difficult transition.
