Phyllis Gene Ramsey

May 18, 1928 – April 26 th , 2023

Phyllis Gene Ramsey was born to Herbert and Mary Gibbs on May 18, 1928 in

Frankfort, Ross County, Ohio. On April 26 th , at the age of 94, she made her heavenly journey and was united with her Lord and Savior. She grew up in a loving home and graduated from Frankfort High School. She continued her education and graduated from God's Bible College in Cincinnati, Ohio.

After living and working for a time in Columbus, Ohio, she met the love of her life, Eugene Ramsey, whom she joined in holy matrimony on October 11, 1958. Phyllis labored faithfully with Eugene in ministry as he pastored in Zanesville, Ohio and later started a new Wesleyan church in Indianapolis, Indiana, all while working by his side as he led the former South Ohio District of the Wesleyan Church as District Superintendent. While living in Indianapolis, Indiana, their union was blessed with two sons, Peter John and Paul David. They raised their sons to walk with the Lord.

Phyllis not only found fulfillment working alongside her husband in ministry and raising her children, she blessed the children of others in her role as teaching assistant for twenty years in the Indianapolis Public Schools. She also possessed a competitive side. One of her favorite pastimes was challenging family members to word games, and in particular, she loved a highly competitive game of Scrabble.

Phyllis was preceded in death by parents Herbert and Mary Gibbs, sisters Nina Gibbs, Rosemary Holland, and brothers Stuart Gibbs and Billy Gibbs as well numerous loved ones. She is survived by her loving husband Rev. Eugene Ramsey, sons Dr. Peter John Ramsey and Lt. Col. (Ret.) Paul David Ramsey, as well as daughters-in-law Belinda Ramsey (Peter) and Kelly Ramsey (Paul) and sister Dorothy Cooper. She is also survived by grandchildren Rachel Ramsey Larobina, Andrew, Alexandra, and Noah Ramsey, as well as grandson-in-law Ramses Larobina.

Hers was a life well lived in dedication to her Lord and to her family. Her strong and loving presence will be sorely missed by her family and all who knew her. She has made her heavenly journey and now sits rejoicing with loved ones who have gone before her as she enjoys her heavenly reward in the presence of her Savior.
