Richard Doss "Rick" Carter, 79, of Blacklick, Ohio, passed away on May 8, 2023, following an extended illness.

Rick was born April 15, 1944, in Mount Hope, West Virginia. He graduated from Mount Hope High School and continued on to Concord College in Athens, West Virginia.  He served in the US Army from 1965-1968.  He worked as a hearing representative for Talx (formerly RE Harrington).

Rick married Louise Young from Hayesville, Ohio on May 31, 1969; they were married 54 years.

He is survived by his devoted wife Louise, sons Scott Aaron (Loretta) of Blacklick and Matthew David (significant other Kristen Renaud) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, grandchildren Derek, Maria, and Matthew Carter of Blacklick, his sister Fran Birdsong, niece Shelley Maddex (Lee), great niece Nadiya Maddex.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents Eugene Scott and Alma (Doss) Carter, brother Charles Carter, nephew Keith Birdsong and brother-in-law Jerry Birdsong

Rick enjoyed reading and watching movies.  He is remembered by most for his great sense of humor and his love of chocolate donuts and molasses cookies.  He attended Eastpointe Christian Church.

Services were arranged by Evans Funeral Home.  The Celebration of Life will begin promptly at 10 am Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Eastpointe Christian Church (745 N. Waggoner Rd., Blacklick, Ohio) with Andre Norman and Dustin Fulton presiding. Visitation will follow the Celebration of Life.
