Richard Ellsworth Hanes II, 45, passed away unexpectedly on August 15, 2026. He was born on November 21, 1980.

Richard was a hardworking man who spent much of his life working long hours and doing whatever he could to provide for the people he loved. He worked hard, but his family was always close to his heart. He loved all of his children deeply and was proud to be a father and grandfather.

Richard shared a love story with his wife, Correna, that began long before they became husband and wife. They had been best friends since she was 12 years old, growing up together and sharing a lifetime of memories. Their bond was built on years of knowing, loving, and being there for one another.

Richard loved the simple things that made life special. He loved good food and would send pictures of his meals to his family just to tease them. He loved traveling and looking forward to new adventures. He had recently bought a motorcycle that he absolutely loved and was excited about traveling on it with his son. He was also looking forward to taking his family to see the sand dunes on their next vacation.

Mondays were Richard’s one day off, and he treasured that time with his family. He would go home and spend the day watching a movie with them. Those Monday movie nights may have seemed like ordinary moments, but they are now some of the memories his family will hold closest to their hearts.

Richard leaves behind his wife, Correna; his children, Destiny, Johnie, Riley, and Richard III; his stepchild, Ashton; and his beloved grandchild, Rraelynn. He is also survived by his sisters, Cheri and Michelle, along with extended family and many friends who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mary, and his sister, Amy.

Richard was deeply loved, and he will be deeply missed.
