Richard "Dick" Earl Welch

Born June 4, 1932, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara, his daughter, Sandy, and his son, Rick.

He is survived by his sons William (Wendy) and Marvin; his brothers Ron, Jim, and Bob; grandchildren Chad (Lisa), Todd (Lindsey), LyRie (Scott), Joel (Jaimie), Keri (Robby), Stefan (Lindsay) Samantha, Stephanie, and Yomi.  He is also survived by many great grandchildren.

Dick grew up in Mechanicsburg, Ohio, before leaving for college to play football at Heidelberg College.  After college, he proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War until 1955. Following his military service, he worked for the government until his retirement from DSCC in Whitehall, Ohio.

After marrying Barbara, Dick raised his family in Whitehall, where he became affectionately known as the "Mayor of Whitehall."  He loved his community and volunteered for numerous sporting events. He will be deeply missed by his family, as well as countless friends in the Whitehall community.

Dick generously donated his body to science at The Ohio State University so that others may benefit from his contribution.

Dick will be remembered for his love of family, service to the community, and pride in the Whitehall community.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced.
