Robert S. "Bob" Burns, SGM (Retired), passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the age of 85.  He was born March 10, 1939, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Harry and Margaret Burns. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Ernest Webel.

He is survived by fiancée, Bonnie Griffith, and children, Theresa Griffith, Bobby (Jeannetta) Burns, Natalie (Jeff) Morbitzer, Toni (Tom) Quest, Eric Burns and John (Elisa) Burns.  Grandchildren include Amanda (Dave Rojas) King, Jacob (Sydney) Burns, Miranda Griffith, Jared Burns, Megan Morbitzer, Jason Burns, Curtis Morbitzer, Sophia Burns, Nicholas Burns and Mollie Morbitzer and great grandchildren include Daimen King, Trinity Rojas, Elsie Thiele, Kinzley Hysell, Elliot Rojas, Kylynne Hysell, and Nora Lee Burns.

Bob graduated from St. Mary High School in 1957.  He was drafted into the Army in 1961 and after basic training, and training for his MOS, he was assigned to a unit in Paris, France for five years. He returned to the U.S. and finished his active duty at Ft. Monroe before coming back to Columbus and enlisting in the US Army Reserves.  He served with the 369th Medical Detachment in Columbus for 16 years.

He retired from his last job in June 2015 after 23 years as a COTA bus driver which he enjoyed because he loved meeting people.  He also loved working on cars and trucks.  We will miss his outgoing personality, huge heart and contagious laugh.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024, 10:00 AM EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 4171 E. Livingston Ave,. where friends may call 1 hour prior to service.  Interment at Sunset Cemetery immediately after (6959 W. Broad Street, Galloway, Ohio 43119) with military honors.
