Ronald Lee Nichols age 86 of Columbus, Ohio. Born July 21, 1938passed away July 31, 2024.  Ron was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He is survived by his wife, Barbara, son Gregory (Janell) Nichols, daughter Michelle AKA Shelley Shell (Joe) Gabriel, grandson Dominic (Jackie) Russo, granddaughter Kathryn Barbara (Vincent) Gabriel, great-granddaughters, Briella and Aria Russo, and Isabell Gabriel.

Ron was born and raised in Beverly, Ohio.  He married Barbara Ann Basnett on November 6, 1959, they were inseparable for almost 65 years.  He has been a resident at the Cherry Blossom Assisted Living Facility for the last 4 years.

Ron was an accountant and worked for the former Republic Franklin Insurance Co, which became the Utica Insurance Company.  He then worked with the Columbus City Income Tax office.

Ron is well known for his dedication and support for the Shadywood Youth Baseball Association on the East Side of Columbus. He spent countless hours there as Commissioner of the league, Coach, and maintaining the ball fields.

His passion for golf over the years gave him much enjoyment and happiness, in fact, the last job he had was working for a Columbus city golf course before retiring.  His golf friends were very important to him on and off the golf course.

Ron was very patriotic and had the upmost respect for the American flag, Law enforcements and our military members and veterans.

His memorial service will be at Evans Funeral Home 4171 E. Livingston Ave. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, 1:00 PM where visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to time of service.
