Sophie Vernon (Nickoloff)

Age 96. Born May 30, 1925, in Curtisville, Pennsylvania, passed peacefully November 8, 2021.

Sophie was preceded in death by Sam and Rosie Nickoloff, husband of 50 years William B. Vernon, brother Jack (Jennie) Nickoloff, sister Doris Cornelius, son-in-law Ray Maddox, daughter-in-law Suzie Vernon, son-in-law Jerry Boyer. She is survived by her son William Michael Vernon and daughter Diann Maddox-Boyer.  She is survived by her sisters and brothers, Mary Ater, Evelyn Davis, Angie Kitsos, George (Alice) Nickoloff, Dominic (Norma) Nickoloff, Louise (Ed) Wohlstein.

Also, she is survived by her grandchildren Scott (Jennifer) Maddox, Vincent (Becky) Vernon, Jason (Danielle) Vernon along with great grandchildren Alexandria and Nickolet Maddox. Austin, Coty, Cory (Larrisa), LeLin, K.J. and Kurerra Vernon.  A host of loving family and friends and long time dear loving friend, Betty Garver.

Sophie was a graduate of Central High School, Columbus, OH  class of 1944.

Sophie was active in line dancing and ballroom dancing. She was also a member of the Elks Club, AmVets, VFW, American Legion, Moose, and Eagles.

Bill and Sophie were proud parishioners, and one of the founding families of St. Cecilia Catholic church, established 1947.

Family will receive friends from 3-7pm, Friday November 12, 2021 at EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 4171 E. Livingston Ave.

Mass of christian burial will be held at 10:00am, Saturday November 13, 2021 at ST. CECILIA CATHOLIC CHURCH, 434 Norton Rd.  Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery
