Died June 12, 2024.
The world has grown a little dimmer with the passing of Stan Campbell
Place, a very bright star that shone on the world for nearly 93 years. Now
he surely is sharing beauty tips with the choir of angels. A few of his many
accomplishments were; fashion designer, professional ice skater, dancer
and actor, ballroom dance instructor, published author and editor, and the
top professional make-up artist of his time. He was well known and loved
by many; locally, Peace Lutheran Church, Gahanna Senior Center, and
Gahanna Historical Society, plus other senior centers as ballroom dance
instructor. Often passionate about his opinions, but always with deep
rooted love and concern for his family. He was dependable and generous
to a fault. His life was spent in the world of glamor, society, and beauty;
but he never lost his faith in the Lord and would say he wore out his knees
in prayer. To those of us left, he was, "Our Uncle Stan". He is preceded in
death by his mother, Mattie Campbell Haycook, step-father, Neal P.
Haycook, father, Harry V. Place, sister and brother-in-law, Sharon H. Place
Fellows and John R. Fellows, nephews, Shaun and Mark Fellows, and
many other loved grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He leaves his
niece and nephew-in-law, Laura Fellows Alexander and Nic Alexander.
Great nephews, Chad (Remy) and Jeremy (Becky) Alexander, Great
nieces, Emily Alexander (Rich) Sommers, Elizabeth Alexander (Dan)
D'Amico. Great-great nieces, Amelia Sommers, Bridget Alexander, Greta
D'Amico. Great-great nephews, Cooper, Dylan, Eoin, Ian Alexander, and
Henry Sommers. Place and Campbell Cousins, and many friends in New
York City, Columbus, and around the world. Interred at Mifflin Township
Cemetery. A "Celebration of Life" is planned for a future date.
