Obituary

Susan Elizabeth Fedorchak, 80, of Gahanna, Ohio passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.   Anna and Stephen Fedorchak welcomed their daughter on August 5, 1945, in Rankin, PA.  Susan was a devout Catholic from the beginning, even surprising the nuns with her stalwartness.  An excellent student, she also managed to balance cheerleading and modeling throughout her youth before graduating from Rankin High School.  Susan earned her degree from California State College and was a pediatric nurse at Forbes Regional in Pittsburgh until her eventual move to Columbus. After 25 years with Mount Carmel and a long and distinguished career, Susan finally retired.  However, her instinct to care for her family, friends, and community never waned.

Susan was a devoted parishioner of St. Matthew and a fixture on early Sunday mornings at Adoration.  She deeply loved the closeness and connection she felt with God there.  A longtime member of the Crochet and Knitting Ministry, Susan helped thousands of people throughout Columbus feel warm and loved.   She also kept her Slavic tradition of the Blessing of the Baskets alive in the community.  Additionally, she taught 8th graders how to crochet, participated in Friends Across Time, and relished making cookies with friends for the Christmas food boxes.
Susan's other great passion was football, whether cheering on the Buckeyes, Pitt, Penn State, or her beloved Steelers.

She is preceded in death by her mother, father, and cherished poodle, Rocky.

A viewing will be held at Evans Funeral Home 4171 E. Livingston Ave. from 4-6pm on Monday, February 9th, 2026.  The Nursing Honor Guard will conduct The Nightingale Tribute at 5:30pm.
Her funeral mass at St Matthew will be on Tuesday, February 10th at 11am.  A livestream will be available online at stmatthew.net
This will be followed by an interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 1pm and conclude with a luncheon at Third Base Pint House in Gahanna (230 Granville Street)
