Verka Gorgievski age passed away surrounded by love and family on Thursday, January 11th, 2024. Verka was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, and a friend to many. Those who knew her would describe her as a tenacious woman who loved her family with every fiber of her being and protected them to no end. Overcoming so much adversity in her early life, Verka vowed to always shower the ones she loved with unwavering affection; never letting a moment go by without letting you know how much you meant to her. Working as a tailor when she moved to America, she was honored to be a provider for her family and made sure every need or want was satisfied. A regal woman, Verka took pride in her appearance, always smelling and dressing exquisitely, encouraging her family to do the same. She was a witty and funny lady who left us with countless memories that will forever make us laugh. She was truly the queen of our hearts and will be missed by many. Verka is survived by her husband of 60 years and caretaker in her final days, Risto Gorgievski; daughters Katerina (Kosta) Sarafov and Angelina (Mark) Helsel; grandchildren Marija (Stephan) Nikolovski, Alexsandar Jotevski, Daniela Sarafov; and great-grandson Dominic Nikolovski. A viewing will be held in her honor at Evans Funeral Home 4171 E. Livingston Ave. on Monday, January 15th between 4 - 7pm. A funeral service will be held for Verka at the St. Mary Macedonian Orthodox Cathedral, 400 S. Waggoner Rd. where she was a proud member, on Tuesday, January 16th at 10:30am.
