Mr. Virgil Charles Bess, Sr.

Mr. Virgil Charles Bess, Sr. 84 years old of COLUMBUS OHIO passed away January 30, 2024, at OSU East hospital. He was the fifth child born to Arthur Bess, Sr.  and Mrs. Beatrice N. Bess.  He attended Excelsior High School in West Virginia and graduated as a member of the Class of 1959.  After serving in the U.S. Army, he joined a national trucking company as a driver and later was an employee of the State of Ohio.  He loved games of chance and was an avid fisherman. He married Cherelle Emerson and to them were born Sherri L. Bess, Virgil Charles Bess, Jr., Gary W. Bess, and Lawrence C. Bess.  He is preceded in death by his parents, by his wife, and his brothers Arthur, Darwin, General and sister Delores.  He leaves to mourn his sister Mrs. Yvonne Bess Gaither, his brother Dr. Reginald A. Bess, his special nephews Reginald and Tyrone Davidson, his special lady friend and caregiver Genevieve "Gigi" Davis and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, and friends.
