Vladimir Talevski, age 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2026, after a long and meaningful life filled with love, family, hard work, and cherished memories.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, Vladimir was born on January 29, 1934, in Bitola, Macedonia, to the late Bose and Gela Talevski. It was in Bitola in 1958 that he met the love of his life, Fanija. This partnership built on deep love and unwavering respect, their 68 years together anchored a multi-generational family. He was a devoted husband and father to his daughters Dance and Nada and his presence brought strength, wisdom, and steadfast love to generations of his family.
Living a true “American Dream” life, Vladimir immigrated to the United States from Macedonia in 1974 with a single briefcase in search of new opportunities and a brighter future for his family. He settled in Columbus, Ohio, with his devoted wife, Fanija, and their daughters, remaining a proud resident of Columbus for the rest of his life. He was a loyal employee of Columbus Showcase, where he became a grand-master carpenter, until his retirement in 1996. Known for his quiet strength and incredible work ethic, he never complained and always got the job done. His handcrafted wooden pieces will now be treasured and passed down from generation to generation. Through courage, determination, and untiring hard work, he built a meaningful life and left a lasting legacy for the generations who followed. While building his life in America, he maintained a deep connection to his homeland, keeping a strong bond to his Macedonian culture and roots throughout his entire life, cherishing his visits back to "The Old Country". Vladimir was also a long time member of the St Mary Macedonian Church.
Affectionately known as “Dedo Vlade,” he always had a smile on his face, loved to laugh, and was quick with a joke to brighten anyone's day. He was a passionate sports fan who loved sharing stories of his youth in Macedonia, especially fondly remembering his days playing for the Pelister Football Club in Bitola. A true fixer who always made something out of nothing, he could solve or repair almost anything with his resourceful spirit. He took great pride in tending to his garden, preparing delicious meals for his family as an excellent cook, celebrated by family and friends as the maker of the best red wine in town, and finding the best deals as the ultimate bargain hunter. Up until his last days, he could often be found working on projects in his garage with Macedonian folk music playing in the background.
Vladimir was preceded in death by his parents, Bose and Gela Talevski, wife Fanija Talevska, brothers Peco, Stojan, Vasko, and Stevko Talevski, nephews Mende and Kire Talevski, sister in law Mare Petrovski, and brother in laws Branko Mitevski, Nikola Mikarovski, Gjorgi Mikarovski and Mendo Petrovski. He is survived by daughters Dance Kitanovski, Nada (Vlade) Janakievski, grandchildren Natalia (Kiril) Trajkov, Biljana (Oliver) Domazetovski, Bozidar (Frances) Janakievski, Elena (Nicholas) Galiardi, great grand children, Evalyn, Olivia, and Isabella Domazetovski, Theodore, Samuel, and Roman Janakievski, Jana and Mira Trajkov, Nico and Viana Galiardi, sister in law Tomka Talevski, sister in law Ljubica Mitevski, sister in law Nada Mikarovska, sister in law Jovanka Mikarovski, and many more relatives in the United States and Macedonia.
