William Michael "Mike" O'Sail age 60, of Whitehall, Ohio passed away suddenly September 18, 2023. Mike was born on March 8, 1963, to James and Jessie 'Carlene' (Higgins) O'Sail in Sumter, South Carolina. Mike was raised by his mother Carlene and father Rodney Mitchum who served in the US Air Force as a Master Sergeant. Mike lived in Berlin, Germany from 1974-1978, just 1/4 of a mile from the Berlin Wall. During his time in Berlin, he was involved in baseball, basketball, and football. After completing his education, Mike then served in the Navy starting in 1981 until 1985 and spent time on the USS Richmond K. Turner (CG-20). Mike was a part of the peace keeping force during Grenada, Operation Urgent Fury in 1983. At age 20 while serving his country, in 1983, Mike met the mother of his children and forever friend, Sue. He and Sue welcomed their first daughter, Lydia, in 1988 and then their second daughter, Sarah, in 1996. Mike and Sue were married for 25 years. He worked for the electrical union from 1994 through 1998. Then from 1998 to 2001 Mike worked at the postal office. Mike subbed for Whitehall City Schools for 2 years and was hired as a custodian in 2003. Mike enjoyed making the staff smile and always made sure others were taken care of, especially the students that he took under his wing. He worked for Whitehall City Schools for 20 years and he was proud to be a Whitehall Ram. Mike was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan since the 70s, movie and music lover, a protective Dad, incredible Paw-Paw, great friend, and of course, a very proud US Navy Veteran. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlene and Rodney Mitchum. He is survived by his ex-wife and friend, Sue (Finkel) O'Sail; daughters, Lydia (Gunner) Billingsley; Sarah (Shane) O'Sail; his 4 Grandchildren; Stevan, Samuel, Wesley and Hazel. Brothers; Jimmy (Doris) O'Sail and Ricky (Brenda) O'Sail, sisters; Cathey O'Sail and Teresa O'Sail, along with many cousins and nieces and nephews.  Memorial service Tuesday, October 3, 2023, 6:00 PM Evans Funeral Home 4171 E. Livingston Ave where friends may call from 4:00 PM until time of service.
